Calathea is cut foliage with patterned leaves — bold stripes and markings in contrasting greens, purples and creams, on a firm upright stem. Unlike plain greenery, it carries visual interest on its own, which lets it act as a design element rather than a background.

It belongs in tropical and modern arrangements, hotel and restaurant work, and event installations where large-format foliage does the structural work and flowers provide accents. The leaves are broad enough to line vases and conceal mechanics.

Calathea is durable, holds well out of water during setup, and lasts two weeks or more once conditioned.
