Red is the variety group where Ecuadorian growing conditions show most clearly. High-altitude equatorial sun produces a deep, saturated red that holds rather than browning at the petal edges as the bloom opens — the fault that gives cheaper red roses away after two days in a warm room.

Freedom is the benchmark: a large, classic head with a high petal count, and the variety most florists specify by name for Valentine's Day and anniversary work. Explorer runs slightly deeper and more velvet in tone. Dallas and Garden Heart offer alternatives where a different form or a garden-rose shape is wanted.

Stems run 40 to 70 cm with vase life typically 16 to 18 days. Buds arrive at a closed cut stage and open over two to three days, so order to arrive ahead of the date rather than on it.

Red roses are the single most demand-driven product in floristry. Valentine's pricing across the industry rises sharply from mid-January; pre-booking in November or December is the only reliable way to protect both cost and availability. The same applies, less severely, to Mother's Day.

Minimum order is one box, generally 100 stems or the equivalent.
