Carnations are the most cost-effective focal flower in event design, and the reason most DIY wedding budgets work at all. Where a rose might cost several times as much per stem, carnations deliver comparable head size and colour coverage, which is why the standard advice for a tight budget is to build 60 to 70 percent of the arrangement from carnations and reserve roses for the bouquets.

They have also been rehabilitated by modern design. Packed densely into a compact dome, carnations produce the textured, cloud-like look that has become a wedding style in its own right — a very different result from the sparse arrangements that gave them a dated reputation.

They are the longest-lasting flower we ship, routinely holding two to three weeks in the vase, and they tolerate heat and handling better than almost anything else.
