Freesia is bought for scent as much as for appearance. It carries one of the strongest and most pleasant fragrances in commercial floristry — clean and citrus-sweet rather than heavy — which makes it a deliberate choice for bridal bouquets and intimate arrangements where guests are close to the flowers.

The form is distinctive: florets arranged along one side of an arching stem, opening in sequence from the base. That curve gives natural movement to hand-tied bouquets and stops arrangements looking rigid.

Because the buds open in stages, order two to three days ahead so the first blooms are open and the rest are colouring up. The remaining buds will continue opening over roughly a week in the vase.
