Japanese aralia is large-format cut foliage — broad, deeply lobed, glossy dark green leaves on a firm stem. Each leaf covers substantial area, which makes it one of the most efficient ways to build a green base in large arrangements.

Designers use it structurally: lining vessels, concealing mechanics, filling the back of pedestal and altar arrangements, and providing the dark backdrop that makes pale flowers read clearly. The strong shape also suits tropical and modern styling on its own.

It is durable, tolerates handling and heat well, and lasts two weeks or more once conditioned. Cut stems on arrival and hydrate before use.
